Submersible Drainage Pumps

Submersible drainage pumps manage water levels and prevent flooding to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Continuous operation, minimal maintenance

Submersible drainage pumps remove or transfer excess water from work sites - either off-site or to where it’s needed, helping maintain dry, safe, and operational conditions in civil construction, mining, and quarrying across New Zealand.

By shifting water quickly, they reduce costly downtime and keep crews on the job. Because they run submerged, drainage pumps do not need priming and are less prone to cavitation. They are suited to water with fine abrasives and light suspended solids.

We supply a range of drainage submersible pumps to suit your conditions, from rainwater in trenches and excavations to pump stations and corrosive mine environments. Our team helps you specify the setup best suited to your drainage needs, including duty point, materials, and accessories, with service and support across New Zealand.

Questions

FAQ

At Prime Fluid Management, we understand that every fluid management challenge brings unique considerations. Here, you’ll find clear, practical answers and expert guidance to help you maximise uptime, achieve regulatory compliance, extend equipment life, and implement the most effective solution for your site.

What do drainage submersible pumps do on site?

Drainage submersible pumps remove or transfer unwanted water from a wide range of environments — from construction and mining sites to tunnels, basements, and flood zones. Designed to operate fully submerged, they eliminate the need for priming and reduce the risk of cavitation. Their ability to handle water with suspended solids ensures reliable performance in demanding conditions.

Can these pumps run dry?

Yes — selected Grindex models feature advanced run-dry capability, with built-in thermal protection and a modular design that simplifies maintenance. This not only protects the pump during unexpected dry runs but also contributes to their reputation as one of the most reliable and durable drainage submersibles on the market - ideal for long-term, low-maintenance performance in demanding environments.

What size and performance range do you cover?

Across the ranges shown, inlets span roughly 2–10 inches with max flows listed up to about 350 L/s and heads up to 200 m on certain models. Check the overview tables or download the Dewatering, Bypass & Sewage Pumps Guide to match size, head, flow and solids to your job.

Do you supply and support submersibles NZ-wide?

Yes. Prime Fluid Management operates across New Zealand with six branches, a warehouse and servicing workshop. We provide equipment, service and support nationwide.

What’s the difference between drainage and sewage submersibles?

Drainage units focus on dewatering clean to lightly contaminated water and managing site water levels. Sewage units are engineered to move raw or solids-laden wastewater, with cutter, vortex or single-channel impellers to reduce clogging and pass larger solids.
