Smart Pumping

Dewatering, Sewer Bypass & Flood Control

BBA Pumps are trusted across New Zealand for critical water movement:

  • Dewatering: Rapid groundwater removal for trenching, foundations, and site preparation.
  • Bypass: Reliable flow control during upgrades and maintenance pipes or waterways.
  • Flood Control: Fast deployment for emergency response and low footprint surface-mounted pump station solutions.

Proven in the field, BBA Pumps have supported projects such as over-pumping the Maitai River to protect Nelson City and providing relocatable infrastructure to strengthen Kaiapoi’s flood resilience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are BBA Pumps preferred on NZ civil project sites?

Because they’re designed specifically for temporary pumping, with benefits including: auto-priming, ability to run attended for long periods, low fuel use and long running autonomy, extended service intervals and low noise.
They are available in multiple configurations from silenced to open canopy, and with diesel, hybrid and electric engines.
Hydrogen, battery-electric and other energy sources are ready and waiting for the NZ market.

Can BBA Pumps be used for flood control?

Yes. BBA BA-series auto-prime pumps are available up to 700mm with flow capacity of 7,800m3/hr and are deployed widely for surface-mounted flood control in Europe and the USA. Even at this size they can be readily relocated. In NZ, two BA500 pumps are in use for flood control in Kaiapoi, Waimakariri. They are fuel-independent, have automated control and quiet operation, and require little in-ground infrastructure to operate.

What is DriveOn® Technology?

DriveOn® is BBA Pumps’ technology that extends diesel pump maintenance intervals from 500 to 1,500 hours. By optimizing engine components it reduces maintenance costs, labor, and downtime while lowering fuel use and CO₂ emissions. Ergonomic access to service points makes upkeep safer and easier.
DriveOn® is available on models such as the PT100, PT150, BA100K, and BA150KS, delivering reliable, low-maintenance solutions for wellpoint dewatering, sewer bypass, and temporary civil construction pumping needs.

Are hydrogen-powered pumps available in NZ?

Not yet - but BBA and Prime are ready to deploy them as infrastructure in New Zealand evolves.

Can I hire or lease BBA Pumps?

Yes. We offer flexible access through sales, hire, and lease options.
